Artek Mademoiselle Lounge Chair Lounge Chair

Artek Mademoiselle Lounge Chair, designed by Ilmari Tapiovaara, is the little sister of Mademoiselle Rocking Chair. The lounge chir was projected to be put next to the Mademoiselle Rocking Chair, to create an intimate domestic corner to spend relaxing family moments. Crafted using an age-old construction method, the spoke back contrasts strikingly with the smooth modernist curves of the seat’s softly rounded edge. In creating the Mademoiselle, designer Ilmari Tapiovaara drew inspiration from traditional Finnish chairs, then applied his own modern design approach.
